Today is the first of five Uranus sextiles to Neptune to happen between now and 2027. These are times of great cultural shifts. There are surprising themes that are repeating now, that align with those of last Uranus Neptune sextile in 1966-1967.
Looking at the past, we can see patterns – help us to focus on how we choose to focus our attention. Where we focus is where change happens.
As you read this – note your thoughts on these themes. What changed in the second half of the 1960s during and after this sextile? These are the themes we as humans are working to figure out.
If we look to the last time Uranus was sextile Neptune – we see this culminated with the 1967 Summer of Love – the height of the hippie movement. Widespread objections to “The Establishment” which identified the equivalent of members of the World Economic Forum.
This is the last years when psychedelic drugs were legal. Nowadays we hear of microdosing and Ayahuasca ceremonies to connect with something more.
A desire to define what is an American Citizen? Civil Rights were the issue in the 1960s, the topic has shifted to issues of citizenship and an array of minorities.
The question of how should the USA participate in foreign wars – and the question of who is benefitting. In 1966—67 this was on ending the Vietnam War and tension Israel’s 1967 Six Day War. And currently the spotlight is on ending the Ukrainian War and what is happening in Israel.
Technology – currently the nascent AI computing is constantly in the news – and the discussion of technological progress to overhaul all of society and others questioning what is the best way to use this as a tool rather than a replacement for humans. The last Uranus-Neptune sextile used freshly minted computers to get people to the Moon.
Lastly, the Neptunian theme of spirituality. In the mid-1960s younger people especially were abandoning traditional religions while a subset of them were exploring meditation and ideas from Eastern traditions. The past few years have brought more discussions on the nature of consciousness. Numerous highly visible people are regularly declaring their Christianity after decades of silence on the topic.
