The Solstice is when the Sun enters the zodiac sign of Cancer. It marks the beginning of summer in the Northern Hemisphere. It happens sometime today for most of the earth.
Is summer about vacations—an escape from the drudgery of the status quo—or is it a time when you can see what you are nurturing in and for yourself?
The Earth is in bloom, and many plants have visible buds—tangible signs that growth is underway. The key here is to focus on your own garden. What ideas and desires, planted in winter, are showing signs of growth? What will it take to get them to bloom?
It is all too easy to indulge yourself through the summer. When you do, weeds will strangle all the careful work you’ve done. In Cancer, the word “nurture” is often used. Nurture is about creating an environment where things can develop into their best possible self. All the nurture in the world will not make a lettuce plant into a rose. Each has its own character and purpose in the world.
Too often, we focus on what we are not, rather than nurturing ourselves to bloom as individuals. Do you recognize the seeds you planted for yourself this year? What can you do to help them flourish?
